As you cycle, your local guide tells the story of how Bilbao’s estuary transformed from an industrial area full of shipyards and factories into a modern, green riverside leading all the way to the seaside of Getxo.

The route follows a flat, comfortable bike path along the river with no hills or busy traffic, making it suitable for all levels. Along the way, you ride through former industrial neighbourhoods, now transformed into lively areas with parks, walking paths, and modern architecture, while your guide brings the city’s industrial past to life.

One of the biggest highlights of the tour is crossing the iconic Bizkaia Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s oldest working transporter bridge. You ride across on a moving platform that carries you over the river, giving you wonderful views of the water, and the two villages Portugalete and Getxo

On the other side, discover Getxo’s elegant Golden Coast, where wealthy families once built impressive seaside villas. After a scenic coastal ride with stunning and breathtaking views over the rugged coastline and the Bay of Biscay, you arrive at the charming fishermen’s harbour of Algorta, with its whitewashed houses, narrow streets, stunning viewpoints, and lively bars and restaurants—the perfect place to end the guided tour.

But the day doesn’t end there. Your e-bike is yours for the rest of the day, included in the price. Relax on the beach, visit cafés and viewpoints, or continue exploring the coastline by bike.
